PSU Newsletter: April

Hello Students!

Since last month’s newsletter, a lot has happened. First off, I’d like to introduce myself. My name is Michy and I am an 11th grader at The Met High School in Providence and I am currently an intern at PSU. I wanted to introduce myself as I wanted this newsletter to be a bit more personal. You are not alone during this situation. I’m sure everyone has their opinions, thoughts, and emotions about the current situation but I hope as a whole everyone is continuing to take the precautions necessary to keep oneself and others safe!

  • Keep self-distancing—as boring and honestly depressing as it seems!

  • If you HAVE TO be in a public area (grocery store, job site, RIPTA, etc.), try to avoid people as much as possible, clean what you will touch, and avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth. For example, at a grocery store: wipe the handle of the cart, touch only what you need to, avoid touching your face, and once you leave disinfect your hands.

  • Be aware of what you’re saying/sending about the virus. Is the information from a reliable source?

  • Continue good hygiene, physically and mentally!

Like many locations across Rhode Island, Providence Student Union will be closed until further notice. However, PSU will continue supporting students! This newsletter lists resources available to Providence students during this time and what PSU has been doing.

ALERT

The Governor and Commissioner will be addressing students this Thursday (4/2/2020) at 1pm and will be answering their questions!

Resources

Well-Being Fund

PSU understands that you may be in need of emergency funds, especially during this time. We want to support students by assisting if you need money for any finical situation you may be in (groceries, pay utilities, rent, bills, etc). Any Providence public high student can apply and depending on how urgent the money is needed is how fast we will get back to you. If you have any questions, DM us on any of our social media or email us help@pvdstudentunion.org.

If you need clothes or period products, DM us for more information as you do not need to apply!

Google Doc with resources for students and families:
