OSPVD Envisioning a Youth-Led Future: OurSchoolsPVD Community Conversation
Join OurSchoolsPVD for "Envisioning a Youth-Led Future: OurSchoolsPVD Community Conversation" on Tuesday, December 10 from 4:00-6:30pm at Elmwood Community Center (75 Atlantic Ave). This will be a space for Providence youth and community members to share YOUR visions and priorities for PPSD, and collectively brainstorm how we can build the futures we want for PPSD in the context of the state takeover and a return to local control. Dinner will be provided and transportation support (bus passes and rideshares) are available upon request. All are welcome, especially youth and current PPSD students!
Accessibility notes: Elmwood Community Center is wheelchair accessible and is a 5-minute walk from a RIPTA R Line station.
OurSchoolsPVD is a community alliance of Providence youth-led organizations and allies, including the Alliance of Rhode Island Southeast Asians for Education (ARISE), Providence Youth Student Movement (PrYSM), Providence Student Union (PSU), Parents Leading for Educational Equity (PLEE), Youth In Action, Young Voices, Rhode Island Center for Justice, and the Center for Youth and Community Leadership in Education (CYCLE), working towards education justice in PPSD. OurSchoolsPVD came together in 2019, with the goal of ensuring that state control of the Providence Public School District (PPSD) results in an educationally just and equitable system that adequately serves and centers the voices and leadership of all students and families.
